About Recruiting

Most people think that the only way you get recruited is when a college coach contacts the student-athlete. But in reality, the college coaches are always looking for student-athletes. In order to get your athlete noticed, you have to contact them. Sometimes high school coaches will do a mailing to a few colleges, but it is very limited. College coaches have changing needs each year, they may not have the manpower and time to look or find athletes. The mailings give the exposure that coaches are looking for. Most coaches appreciate the fact that you are bringing a potential athlete to their attention so they can determine whether their skills will fit into their program.

If you happen to have a star athlete, they are only known in your area. If you expand that area through mailings, the athlete might get additional offers. If you have a talented student-athlete, most likely they need exposure to college coaches. It's good that athletes go to exposure camps. But here again, their are only a limited number of coaches there. Mailings and web pages help bring attention to the student-athlete, and fill the coaches specific need for the recruiting year. Sometimes a coach is only looking for a certain position, for example, a coach might need a third baseman or catcher for a particular year. Your mailings, will inform the coach of the position the student-athlete plays.
